Café Roma was born in 1934 in Alassio, created by the vision of Mario Berrino — an artist, storyteller, and one of the great interpreters of Riviera life.

From its earliest days, Roma became more than a café: it was a meeting place, a crossroads of summers, friendships, and unforgettable characters. Celebrities, starlets, writers, and everyday vacationers all passed through its doors, shaping nearly a century of shared memories.

Muretto di Alassio

In the 1950s, just across from Roma, another idea came to life: the Muretto di Alassio, conceived by Mario Berrino together with Ernest Hemingway.

What started as a simple wall soon became an open-air gallery, now home to more than a thousand signed tiles from actors, musicians, champions, poets, and personalities from around the world.

It still stands today, colourful, iconic, and unmistakably a symbol of Alassio.

And Roma stands with it.

For decades, it has remained a symbol of Ligurian hospitality: relaxed, joyful, and effortlessly elegant.

A place where the sun warms the mornings, where stories are exchanged over an espresso, and where the essence of the Italian Riviera has been preserved through generations.

Today, Roma Lounge carries this legacy forward.

The atmosphere, the simplicity, the warmth, and the spirit of Alassio travel with us, wherever our lounge comes to life.
